Sidewalk Sentinel
This "Intersections" project required a flash investigation of any intersection in Richmond. I chose my apartment's intersection, 2nd and Franklin, because of the high number of car accidents and homeless people...

The Magic Kitten
Richmond Times Holiday Calendar
I won the student contest for the Times Dispatch Holiday Calendar. Super straightforward, the prompt called for a non-denominational winter activity scene. inrich.com

Perpetua
2-sided poster project based on a type of choice. Poster had to fold down in some way that related to the typeface. Perpetua was originally created for a book, so my concept was to have my poster unfold as a storybook, revealing some kind of narrative. The folded down poster creates an image of a cat, foreshadowing the story that lies within. Since Perpetua is characterized by its beautiful, tapered, stone-cut strokes and serifs, I chose the letters that best accentuated these characteristics to make up the cat. The first fold opens to reveal the isolated narrative of the cat, while the second fold reveals the entire poster. Perpetua was used in early twentieth century manuscripts and such, so the essay side of my poster is set in a similar fashion; such is also the reason for the heavy ornamentation on the conceptual side surrounding the cats.

Boxer Project
This was a 14-image accordion fold book project consisting of 7 2-page spreads, 7 of the images were to be "found" (photos) and 7 were to be "produced" (illustrations). I gathered up a bunch of awesome nature photography books in the library and developed a narrative illustrating the range of emotions a fighter goes through in a typical bout. I cut the front and back covers from masonite and painted a pair of gloves on the front.
